snow

Dear Hudson,
Yesterday we were at the zoo.  Today we woke up to 5 inches of snow.  Crazy Colorado weather.  This was really the first large amount of snow we've gotten at our house so since we had a snow day, I wanted to take you outside to play in it.  You were excited to wear your boots, but not super excited about the snow pants, coat or hat.  I finally got you outside.  You love snow and talk about snow all the time, but you were a little unsure at first.  You lasted about 2 minutes before you started crying.  Then you asked to go inside, but as soon as we were inside, you started crying to go outside.  You refused to wear your mittens and took your hat off, too.  After about 10 minutes, we went back inside.  You were still crying and I finally figured out that you were upset about snow being on your boots.  Oh silly little guy.  We called Daddy to tell him about the snow and to distract you from your crying.  I think we're going to have to work on you liking snow more so we can go sledding next winter.
Love,
Mommy

the zoo, again

Dear Hudson,
I think the only time I remember to pull out the camera is at the zoo.  We were back there today because it was supposed to be 60 degrees today.  While it wasn't very sunny, it was certainly warm enough to be outside.  It's so much fun seeing you recognize animals and get excited about seeing them.  Today, you were most excited about the hippos, otters, tiger and giraffes.  You kept calling the otters fish.  When we got to the giraffes, you fed them all on your own.  No need for mama to hold your hand this time.  You loved holding a cracker for a giraffe to take from your hand.  We had to buy 3 sets of crackers because you were having so much fun.  Your favorite part of the zoo was probably the dump trucks and diggers that are working on the new elephant exhibit.  We sat watching the trucks and eating a snack for the longest time.  I'm pretty sure you would have stayed at the zoo the entire day, considering I had to drag you out of there screaming when it was time to go.  Thanks for being my date to the zoo!
Love,
Mommy

life

Dear Hudson,
Not too much exciting happening, which is nice.  Just living life.  We spend our days playing with cars and stacking blocks and watching elmo.  And reading so many books.  I haven't been pulling out the camera much lately, but I did manage to capture these fun moments.
Love,
Mommy

today

Dear Hudson,
Some days (alright, most days) I'm just amazed by some of things you do.  I know that every child does these things, but since you're mine, I get to be especially proud and blown away by how smart you are.  I used to be really good at writing things down on your calendar, but I haven't been so good lately, so I wanted to remember a few cute things that happened today.

As we were walking into work, you asked for puppy.  Not too unusual since you seem to ask for "mommy, daddy, puppy" just about anywhere.  After you said "puppy", I asked you where you thought puppy was and you said "home."

As we were walking towards the room where I work today, you kept saying "helper" "water" "helper" "water."  You remembered that in that room, you help me fill up a bucket of water so we can wash the tables.

This afternoon you made me take my socks off because you weren't wearing any.  Even though I wanted to keep them on, you insisted.

The other day as I was putting you in the car, I said "love you" and I think you said "love you" back to me.

Oh little man, it amazes me every day all these new things you are learning.
Love,
Mommy
