anniversary

Dear Hudson,
Five years ago today, I married your daddy. It was the best day of my life. We were only starting to dream about the family we would create. We had no idea that five years later we would have a Hudson. I love your daddy so much. There's so much I love about him, but here's 50 things I love the most.
1. He loves being your daddy 2. He asks often when he gets to wrestle with you 3. He still opens the car door for me 4. He loves trying new things (like running and brewing beer) 5. He loves to be outdoors hiking or camping 6. He faithfully meets with the TT guys 7. He knows a ton about movies 8. He likes all kinds of music but only plays the stuff I like when I'm around 9. He rubs my feet 10. When I was pregnant, he would put his hand on my belly when we were riding in the car 11. He built me a porch swing 12. He's great at his job 13. He hugs everybody 14. He takes you when you're fussy in the morning so I can sleep longer 15. He buys me flowers 16. His hair 17. His dad sense of humor 18. He hates wearing real shoes 19. He takes the garbage out 20. He fills my water bottle up each night before bed 21. He's a great cook 22. He eats things like salmon and asparagus when I'm gone 23. He gets so excited when you smile at him 24. He's a great friend 25. He taught himself how to play the guitar 26. He sold his car because God told him to and he has never complained once about biking or walking to work 27. He loves his family and calls them every week 28. He has a great sense of direction and never gets us lost 29. He always washed the dishes the whole time I was pregnant 30. He's my best friend 31. He always says "I love you" before he hangs up the phone 32. He's super cute 33. He dances with me in the kitchen 34. He provides for us 35. He likes to play strategy games 36. He thought I was beautiful at 41 weeks pregnant 37. He always kisses me hello when he comes home from work 38. He can't wait to take you on adventures and do things that "you can't tell mom about" 39. He worked really hard in grad school 40. When he gets excited, he talks really loud 41. He pretends to be really competitive when playing games, even though he is not 42. He's great at figuring out computer things 43. He can probably quote every Brian Regan joke there is 44. He can get you to fall asleep when I can't 45. He's the best diaper changer 46. He makes me laugh 47. He loves Sadie 48. He loves Jesus 49. He loves you 50. He loves me Hudson, I hope you grow up to be just like your daddy. Love, Mom

yee-haw

Dear Hudson,
Last night we went to the Flying W Ranch with Grandma Vicki & Grandma Teri. We had so much fun. The food was great and the cowboy band was awesome. You really liked the music. I think you may want to be a cowboy when you grow up. It's so much fun having the grandmas in town to visit.

Mom

bottle

Dear Hudson,
Today Daddy gave you your first bottle. You did such a great job. I didn't even have to leave the house. I was a little sad, but it's nice to be able to get a break when I need it.

Mom

1 month old

Dear Hudson,
Today you are one month old. It's hard to believe I have been your mommy for a whole month. Even though we're still not getting that much sleep, I love every minute of every day. Here are some things that you're up to.
  • Weight: 10 lbs 8 oz
  • Height: 22 1/2 inches
  • Sleep: usually sleeps in 3 hour chunks at night, but every once in awhile 4 hours
  • Just starting to hold your head up
  • Recognize mommy and daddy's voices
  • Hates tummy time on the floor but doesn't mind it when laying on mommy or daddy
  • Loves looking at toys hanging from carseat
  • Favorite Book: Is Your Mama a LLama (really this is mommy's favorite since you can't pick right now)
I keep wanting to slow time down, but it's so fun to watch you grow and discover new things.
Love,
Mom

everybody loves a parade

Dear Hudson,
Today you got to go to your first parade. We went with Katie and James to the Rodeo Days Parade downtown. There were lots and lots of horses. You also got to see old cars, Shriners, marching bands and The Lady of the West. You were awake for part of it and seemed to like the marching band. Parades will be much more fun when you're older and can get candy!

Mom

splish splash

Dear Hudson,
Boy, you love bath time now. At first, you weren't too sure, but now you sit in your tub happy as a clam. We both got to go with for your bath in the hospital. You really liked it when the nurse washed your hair. We gave you a sponge bath on June 22nd, but you didn't have your first real bath until July 6th. I hope the fact that you like bath time will mean you like swimming too, like me.
Love,
Mom

Birthday

Dear Hudson,
We got to celebrate your daddy's 28th birthday with all of our friends at Kevin and Jen's house. We ate yummy nachos and the boys played Rock Band while the girls hung out outside and talked. You had a great time at the party.

4th of July

Dear Hudson, This year you got to see two sets of fireworks for the 4th of July. One on July 3rd at Jennifer and Garrett's old place and then on July 4th in Manitou Springs. You slept through them both times, but we sure had fun. Love, Mom
